Skull and Rose series

I'm going to start by showing some of my older artwork. This piece is from my Skull and Rose series I did about 1 year ago. There were 6 pieces in totel all around 12"x16" give or take a few inches. They are done on water color paper with ink and watercolor paint. I had a show in 2009 with this seires at Lime XS in Denver, CO.
The piece that I choose to show is titled: "No Defence Against Eros". It was the last one I did for this series and was inspired by Bouguereau's "A Young Girl Defending Herself Against Eros". I got to see this painting in person at the Getty in LA and was struck by it. It was also a favorite painting of a lost love. Bouguereau also painted one of my mom's favorite paintings "Two Girls". She's had a print of it hanging in her house for years. All of these things led me to make my own Eros inspired painting.
